Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the Teaching Ambassador Fellowship program, you must:

  • Be a currently practicing teacher or instructional coach/specialist in a United States Pre-K - 12 public school (including public charter schools)

  • Have a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience (experience may include private and public schools, as long as you are currently teaching in a public school). If the 2008-2009 school year is your third year teaching, you are eligible

  • Be a certified teacher according to the State in which you are teaching

  • Be a United States citizen

  • Be able to obtain support from your administrator and district to sign an Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) agreement for your participation in the program. This support will be verified by telephone for candidates selected as finalists for the positions. Applicants should share this information with their administrators before completing the application process and notify them that a telephone reference will be necessary for all finalists

  • Be able to successfully clear a background investigation and a credit check.

Desirable applicants will demonstrate the following attributes:

  • A demonstrated, meaningful impact on student achievement

  • A record of leadership in the school and community settings

  • Strong potential for continued contribution to the field of education
